Mitel 3300 ICP Software Release 9.0
Product Overview

Hardware enhancements for 3300 ICP Controllers
In release 9.0 the following new hardware will be made available for the 3300 ICP Controllers.

DSP II
A new Digital Signal Processor module (DSP II) will be made available for the 3300 Controllers and the MXe Server.
The new DSP II will be used to support T38 FAX Support and higher densities of G729 compression in certain scenarios.

The DSP II will allow the MXe Controller to support up to 192 channels of G729 compression when being used to support the increased 192 channel gateway configuration.  The DSP II will also allow the MXe Server to support up to 256 channels of G729 compression.

When a customer requires T38 FAX support, a DSP II module will be required. A DSP II module will support up to a maximum of 32 x T38 channels on a 3300 Controller.

SX-200 Bay support on the 3300 Controller
The 3300 MXe Controller has long been able to connect and control SX-2000 Peripheral Cabinets.  This capability has provided migration from the SX-2000 to the 3300 and has greatly improved cost of ownership and long-term return on investment.

The introduction of release 9.0 on the 3300 ICP extends this migration strategy to SX-200 customers. The 3300 now supports SX-200 Bay cabinets the 3300 MXe Controller.

Customers who do upgrade their hardware controller will not need to purchase any additional core system software or software licenses. The customers' existing Application Record can be migrated to the new 3300 Controller.

Common software enhancements
The new features being delivered as part of the new 3300 ICP version of software are aimed at enhancing the overall strength of the 3300 ICP solution.
Phone lock
With the added functionality, flexibility and information that IP based telephones hold we have received several requests for our IP devices to be able to be locked, in a similar manner to a mobile/cellular telephone.
Phone lock in its simplest form will allow the user to press a feature access key appearance and lock the phone. Only emergency outgoing calls can be made and the ability to pick the handset up to answer a ringing call will remain. All other features like headset, application interaction or normal telephone service will be barred.   Users will be able to unlock the phone by entering a PIN number, for hotdesk users the PIN number will be the same as their normal hotdesk login PIN.

Enterprise Manager release 5.0
Enterprise Manager release 5.0 will be introduced in tandem with release 9.0 of the 3300 ICP. Release 5.0 of Enterprise Manager will see all of the new functionality supported inside the Enterprise Management tool while also laying the foundations for new administration capabilities to be introduced later in the year.

Enterprise Manager will also formally support virtualisation with VMWare® Enterprise Edition in release 5.0.

All multi-platform solutions upgrading to the new 3300 ICP software will require the Enterprise Manager application to be upgraded to release 5.0.

Enterprise Manager will be joining the Software Assurance Program as an independent product as of September 1, 2008
